Nail Art - Half Moon Manicure

Last night I made my first attempt at some nail art and I’m actually quite pleased with how it turned out.  My nail art of choice was a half moon manicure which is very Dita Von Teese and depending what colours you use can look glamorous.

There are tutorials for how to create this look floating around on the Internet but I will talk you through how I created this.

For my half moon manicure I used Max Factor Glossfinity in Ivory, OPI in Miami Beet, Nail Inc Kensington Caviar top coat and hole reinforcers (or ring reinforcements as mine appear to be called!).

I started with two coats of Glossfinity (I forgot to use a base coat but obviously this is always a good idea).

I then applied the hole reinforcers to create the half moon effect at the base of my nails and painted the rest of my nails with Miami Beet.

I only applied one coat of Miami Beet because this is all that was required with this shade but other shades may require a couple of coats.  Once dried I then carefully peeled off the hole reinforcers.

Considering the hole reinforcers didn’t stick that well right at the edges of my nails where they meet my fingers (some some colour crept under slightly at the edges) they were actually quite sticky and not that easy to remove.  Some of the gold Glossfinity unfortunately came off with the hole reinforcers in a couple of places but I just carefully touched this up.

I then applied Caviar top coat over the top of the whole nail.

Close up it’s a little bit messy but from a distance this looks really good and I don’t think this is too bad for my first attempt.
