angelica nail colour Scented collection

This year I decided I wanted to try as many new nail varnish brands as possible, including indie, budget and high-end brands. Unfortunately my current financial situation has slightly put pay to that, but I spotted a tweet from angelica nail colour on Twitter looking for people to review one of their new ranges and they kindly sent me their new Scented collection* to try out.

When I opened the parcel I actually ooh'ed at the pretty spring pastel-ness of the shades. I'm not always a fan of pastel shades because I think some just don't suit me and also they're often difficult to apply, but there's no denying that the shades are very pretty.

The shades are Strawberry, Peppermint, Mango and Blueberry, which also corresponds with the scent of each nail varnish. Unfortunately my camera has bleached out some of the colours a little and turned Peppermint to a blue in my nail swatch. The picture at the top is closest to the correct colours. They come in pretty little rectangular shape bottles and have a pretty standard sized brush. The bottles are pretty enough but I do think you can tell that they're only £2.75 each.

As I thought they would be they're not the easiest nail varnishes to apply, but this is to be expected with pastel shades. They're quite thin so I would say you need three coats to get them to an even, opaque coverage, although I have only used two coats on some of the nail swatches above. I was surprised to find that they dry to a pretty glossy finish, I haven't used a top coat in the photos above.

In terms of the scent I wouldn't say that it's particularly a selling point of these nail varnishes. Mango was the strongest but it was still quite subtle. Strawberry and Peppermint you could just about smell but it was accompanied by a typical nail varnish type smell and to be honest I couldn't smell Blueberry at all.

In general they're nice little nail varnishes. You can't expect an awful lot for £2.75 each and they delivered more than I expected from them. You can buy the Scented collection on the angelica nail colour website and I believe they may also be available in Primark stores.

Have you tried any angelica nail varnishes?

  1. These look great for £2.75! I love the look of the Mango and Peppermint shades, perfect for springtime. It's shame they didn't give off very strong scents but like you said - for £2.75 they seem to have done a great job :) xx

    1. They really aren't bad at all considering how reasonably priced they are. To be honest being scented isn't a big selling point for me when it comes to nail varnishes anyway x

  2. Perfect shades for easter and a good price (student friendly-yayyy)

I'm not overly fussed about nail varnish having ascent but I guess even a subtle scent is a bonus! They're nice shades even without a scent!

    1. I don't think a nice scent is much of a bonus when it comes to nail varnish, getting caught sniffing your fingers is not a good look! x

  3. Gorgeous shades - I have the revlon scented polishes and I love them although the scent doesn't last x

  4. I can't get enough of pastel shades for nail polish, the Mango shade to me, is perfect for Spring. I don't think I've heard of a nail polish that has a scent as well though!

    1. I do like pastel shades once they're on but I always find applying them a bit stressful! x
