Hempz Herbal body moisturiser

I can be quite picky about the lotions, butters and oils that I use on my body, but if somebody offers me one to try I will usually accept it just in case it might be that one product that blows all similar products out the water. When I first received the email about the Hempz Herbal body moisturiser* I was a little judgemental and my first thought was the packaging really didn't look very exciting. But I reminded myself that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, or a body lotion by it's packaging, and provided my details so one could wing it's way over to me. I'm really glad I did now.

Hempz Original Herbal body moisturiser

The first time I tried a hemp product from The Body Shop I remember thinking that the leaf on the packaging looked very much like a cannabis leaf (not that I know anything about cannabis, apart from the fact that you can't overdose on it). My boyfriend then advised me that this is because hemp is a variety of the cannabis plant, so a hemp leaf will look very similar to a cannabis leaf. Every day's a school day!

Hempz products contain 100% pure natural hemp seed oil, which is a rich source of essential fatty acids, as well as amino acids, omega-3 and 6, vitamins, minerals and nutrients to help keep skin hydrated, nourished and conditioned. Hempz products are also vegan and gluten, paraben and cruelty free. I notice on the information I have it also confirms that these are drug free!

Now, as I said the packaging is not the most attractive, although I do kind of like it's simplicity, but blimmin heck this is a lovely body lotion. I was sent the original version, so I wasn't expecting much in the way of scent or fragrance, but it actually smells gorgeous. I'm not quite sure how to describe it but it has a sweat scent. If I'd checked the literature I received with the product before I started writing this post then I'd have known beforehand that the scent is actually floral and banana. Now I know that I can actually recognise a floral side and the banana side.

There are a few different products within the range. In the body moisturiser formula I have you can also get vanilla plum, fresh coconut and watermelon, and exotic green tea and Asian pear. They all sound amazing but coconut and watermelon in particular gets me a little excited! They then also offer a Triple Moisture Herbal Whipped body creme, fragranced with enchanted grapefruit and sparkling peach, and Age Defying Herbal body moisturiser fragranced with vanilla and musk.

The original features a light lotion, that I've already said smells amazing, and applies easily. You don't need much as a little appears to go quite a long way and after a minute or two it's all absorbed leaving behind soft, moisturised skin. This comes in quite a hefty 500ml bottle, so as you don't need to use very much I would imagine this will last a while.

Hempz body moisturisers are exclusive to Sally stores but if you're not lucky enough to live close to a store (there's one five minutes walk from my house!) you can also order online from the Sally website. At £12,98 a bottle it's not the cheapest product, but you are getting quite a lot of product for your money.

Do you like the look of Hempz Herbal body moisturisers?
