When I spotted on Instagram that the August Birchbox was actually a bag, and a very cool one made of scuba material with a neon coloured zip and zip pull, I was very excited to receive it. Every subscriber will receive a dove grey colour bag but the zip will then either be Coral Reef, Blue Fin, Yellowtail or Pink Pufferfish. I was holding out for a pink or blue one but actually the coral one I've received is lovely.
The first product I noticed rolling around in my bag was the Philip Kingsley One More Day hairspray. I'm still yet to force myself to embrace dry shampoos, despite the oily hair I've been blighted with all my life, and have about four different ones already waiting to be used. So another dry shampoo was not a hugely welcome sight for me but I would imagine most people will be pleased of the opportunity to try another one, unless they've already tried it of course. I will obviously give this a try just in case it is the one that convinces me that dry shampooed hair can be anywhere near freshly washed hair.
The next product to catch my eye was the Anatomicals The Buff Stuff citrus body scrub. I won't go into why, because I think it's a little unprofessional, but I decided last year that I would no longer use Anatomicals products and don't buy them or accept them as samples. I'm not sure if I will use this or not, but if I don't I will pass it on so it doesn't go to waste.
Next I found a Merci Handy Antibacterial hand cleansing gel in the scent New Wave. Antibacterial gel is not the most exciting product to receive but it is one of those that makes you think 'Oh that will be really handy to drop in my handbag'. I've never heard of Merci Handy before but they appear to be French (merci is a little bit of a giveaway isn't it really!). I don't know what other scents are available but New Wave has a fresh scent to it.
Next I was pleased to see a balance Me sample. Unfortunately for me it's the Radiance face mask, which I really wanted to try when I first discovered balance Me as a brand, but I'm unable to use it because it contains lavender. I will be passing this on to somebody else to try out.
In the bottom of the bag I found a mini Marcelle Waterproof eye liner in Mulberry. This is apparently a Birchbox exclusive and I believe you did get the chance to choose which shade you wanted in your box bag, with the choices being Mulberry or Expresso. I have a couple of purple kohl eye liners now but it's really a nice purple liquid liner that I want to find. I've swatched this on my hand so far and it actually looks really dark, almost black, so I'll see how this looks when I get it on my eyes.
Finally, a little extra this month is a sample of an English Laundry perfume. I'm not sure what the name of this is as it just says English Laundry Pour Femme, so maybe that is the name. As you may know I'm not a fan of teeny perfume samples in beauty boxes, but as it's an extra rather than one of my samples I'm not too bothered. I didn't think this would be my sort of thing but actually it smells really nice.
Although I do really like the bag it's not an amazing Birchbox Birchbag for me this month, but that's just personal preference. You can't please everybody and it's just the luck of the draw that I've received a product I can't use, one I'm not sure I want to use and one I've already got loads of. I will definitely be making use of the bag though. I think this will be a popular month for other people. If you do like the look of this months box bag you can sign up to Birchbox here.

DeleteI unsubscribed to Birchbox a little while back, but this does look like a good box, it's a shame that you won't be able to get much use out of some of the bits though! I love the bag, and the hand sanitizer is a good item! Great review and lovely photos! x
