Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash shower hair brush

I love my original Tangle Teezer for combing through my wet hair and also helping to sort out the dreading backcombing hair stylists like to inflict on my hair on set. But one issue I do have with the type of Tangle Teezer I have is that despite kind of being shaped to fit into your hand, mine is forever flying out of my hand. I don't know if this is a problem other people also have or if it's something to do with me possibly starting to lose my grip (I mean in my hand!). So when Tangle Teezer contacted me I said I had previously reviewed a Tangle Teezer that I actually won, but if possible I'd like to try out a different one. So they sent me the Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash* to try.

Although the Aqua Splash model is designed specifically for use in the bath or shower I prefer not to use it on soaking wet hair as this is when hair is at it's most fragile and I'd rather be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to my hair. I do however use it when my hair has been towel dried and so isn't as wet.

This one is a completely different shape to the original Tangle Teezer but yet still kind of feels shaped for your hand. The Aqua Splash is a larger brush than the original brush but obviously still comes with their patented flexible teeth and strangely comes with a large hole in the middle. I'm not sure if this is something to do with it being for use in the shower and something to do with the water. Anyway, it comes in three colours (Black pearl, Blue Lagoon and Pink shrimp) and I obviously have the pink.

Unfortunately I now have a little bit of a catch 22 situation though as although I do find this one easier to keep hold of and it doesn't keep flying out of my hand like the original, I don't find the teeth on the Aqua Splash to be quite as flexible. So it doesn't feel quite as gentle on my hair as the original does. I'm sure it's still much better than a standard hair brush or comb, but I prefer how the original feels while I'm brushing my hair. So despite the original sometimes going flying out of my hand I think it's still my preferred brush, especially as I don't actually use the Aqua Splash brush in the shower.

If you haven't tried a Tangle Teezer out for yourself you can get both the original (£10.60) and the Aqua Splash (£12.98) from the Tangle Teezer website and Boots stores (they are more expensive in Boots stores).

Have you tried a Tangle Teezer?

  3. Ooo I've not heard of this, I actually like the look of the design of it but not sure it would work for my thick hair whilst in the shower, I need to use de tangling sprays before putting any kind of brush near my hair lol x

    1. I do tend to prefer to let my hair get closer to towel dry and use some kind of conditioning spray before I attempt to go in with a hair brush x
