The Body Shop Vitamin E Essence lotion

You've probably heard me mention before that despite having dry skin it much prefers lighter, easier to absorb products over thicker, heavier ones. As a hydrating serum is one of my favourite types of products to use I was very curious when I first heard about essence lotions. Essence lotions originate from Korea (the home of the 10-step skincare routine, which isn't actually as excessive as it sounds) and should be used after cleansing and toning and before serums and moisturisers. They're thinner than a serum and are designed to provide a extra layer of moisturisation and to help enhance the performance of further products applied over the top.

I was keen to try and essence lotion and wanted to try one from The Body Shop. When I discovered one had been launched within the Vitamin E range (one of my favourite ranges) and that it was very reasonably priced that was my decision made.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Essence lotion

As this is a relatively new product to The Body Shop it comes in their brand new packaging, which I believe has been extended to all products now, and which I really like. You unscrew the lid and luckily find a small hole to dispense the product through. I'm not sure whether the idea is for it to drip out, but if that is the case it doesn't quite work. I just tip up the bottle against my finger tips and the product flows out quite slowly so it's easy to control. I believe you're possibly supposed to dispense it into the palm of your hand before rubbing your palms together and then patting onto the face, but I tend to just use my fingertips to rub it onto my face as I do with all my other products.

My skin loves The Body Shop's Vitamin E range and loves this product just as much as the others I've tried. If you suffer from dry or sensitive skin or your skin is just playing up a little this is the perfect range to help calm and provide moisturisation. As well as vitamin E it also contains wheatgerm oil, hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and the second ingredient is glycerin, which is the stuff that people have claimed makes the Nivea Men aftershave balm such a good make-up primer.

This is £9.50, which I think is more than I paid for it when I first got my hands on it, but this is the cheapest essence lotion they offer and it's definitely worth the price. You can pick this up from The Body Shop stores or online

  1. This sounds like one to try! I'm a huge fan of the Vitamin E Toner from The Body Shop and I keep saying I need to try more from their range. I always tend to suffer from dry skin so I think this would really work for me.
